Workshops
The enriching experience of immersion in mindfulness and creativity has not only a healing quality but can result in powerful, impactful and memorable growth both in a learning sense but also in that of self development. I like to use a lot of demonstration in my workshops at each stage of the days’ progress to enable students to watch and be talked through each process and then try themselves with as much or little guidance from me as they require. Watercolour is often regarded as the most difficult and unforgiving painting medium but when applied loosely and expressively it can reveal itself to be an empowering exercise in every sense.
With this in mind my workshops start with a large brush and a loose approach, leaving ne detail towards the end of the session. The results are a bright and fresh, enabling the student to see a progressive shift in their painting skills. We work on brush skills, colour mixing and application. And also the patience required to wait for paint to dry before applying the next glaze! My absolute favourite part of the sessions is when we remove the masking tape from the edges of the paper leaving a crisp white border to reveal a beautiful little watercolour within. My students joy and sense of achievement at this stage never fails to delight me.
I run beginner friendly classes from my studio at home on the Upper Wye and in various venues around Mid Wales and the borders. Classes are small, maximum 8 students, in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere ensuring you receive the attention and assistance needed. If you are a group and would like to organise or book a workshop or demonstration in your area please get in touch via email.
